John W. Simpson, 84, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Baptist Health of Richmond. Born Sunday June 21, 1936 in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Jess & Jewell McCulley Simpson. John was a bulldozer & heavy equipment operator and a member of Harmon’s Lick Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lucille Sparks Simpson; brother, Ralph “Smokey” Simpson; sisters, Shelby Jean Cain and Judy Simpson.
Survivors include a son, John Wesley (Kim) Simpson, Jr., of Berea; daughter, Anna Long, of Florida; sister, Norrita Moss, of Richmond; grandchildren, Misty (Ben) Mays, Wesley Blake Simpson, Phillip (Timberly) Kidwell, John S. Long, Ryan Prater, six great-grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. James Tyra officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include John Simpson, Jr., Wesley B. Simpson, Luke Linville, Phillip C. Kidwell, John Long & Greg Moss. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until service time on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the funeral home.
