Dorothy Jean Carrier Grider, 82, of Lancaster, widow of Curtis Grider, & mother of Linda East & Kathy (Ray) Johnica, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Monday, June 15, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Jess & Mattie Cobb Carrier. She worked for the Garrard County school system for many years, was a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church in Stanford, as well as a former, 40 year member at Forks of Dix River Baptist Church . Dorothy volunteered as a caregiver for Heritage Hospice & the Senior Citizen’s Center in Stanford. In addition to her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Clay O’Neal, Harold, Leonard, & June Carrier, & one sister, Nancy Ray. Survivors include two daughters, Linda East, & Kathy (Ray) Johnica, all of Stanford; sisters, Betty Ann Edgington, of Crab Orchard, Elsie Broaddus, of Lancaster, Gladys Mae Ray, of Louisville, Bertie Kirkpatrick, of Danville; two grandsons, Wesley & Will East; two granddaughters , Belinda Vance & Aimee Arnold & five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Rhodus, & Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial will take place Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Feldman, Rodney Miracle, Gary Lanham, Randy Carrier, Bruce & Jerry Edgington & Jason Ray. Honorary pallbearers include Erika Burnside, Terri Feldman, Betty Browning, Lois Robbins, Abby Lambert, Willa Frances Graham, Polly Dennis, Allene East, Lavonda Johnson & Allison Prather. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM—4:00 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
