Cecil Ray Johnson

Cecil Ray Johnson, 61, of Nina Ridge Rd, in Garrard County, departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 6, 2011. He was born August 9, 1949 in McNeary County, Tennessee, but grew up in Pulaski County.
Ray served his country proud as a  US Navy Seabee and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a master carpenter, did home remodeling and detail finish carpentry, an accomplished drafting artist, an electrician and plumber. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Garrard County and was a committed servant of Jesus Christ. He always strived to help others, and was devoted to being a Sunday School Superintendent. He also had a strong passion for riding his motorcycle, where he was a member of the KY Chapter Peacemaker Motorcycle Club for 11 years.
He was the son of Aval Sowell Roy and the late John Erthel Johnson. Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents George Oliver and Mary Etta Johnson of Pulaski County, KY.
Along with his mother, Aval Sowell Roy of Blanchester, Ohio, he also leaves behind a step mother of 47 years, Freda Powell Johnson of Lancaster, Ky, a son, Ray Allen Johnson of Florida, three daughters, Joeana Johnson of Florida, Rebecca Dawn Johnson of Florida, Jessica Ray Harris of Missouri, two step daughters, Jamie Janiski of Missouri, Dannielle Muddaugh of Missouri, a brother, Curtis Eugene (Rebecca) Johnson of Garrard County, a half brother, Phillip Wayne (Beth) Johnson of Richmond, KY, a close step brother, Steve (Melanie) Moore of Garrard County, a half sister, Evita Annette Johnson of Riverside, Ohio, and 7 grandchildren.
Services will be 11 am, Friday, August 12, at Freedom Baptist Church in Garrard County with Bro. James Hardin and Bro. Darrell Estes officiating and burial following at Camp Nelson Cemetery with  Military Honors by Man O’ War American Legion Post 8. Pallbearers will be Phillip Johnson, Mike Oakley, Gene Johnson, Roger Coston, Allen Johnson, Jerry Dick, Dexter Wade, and Brandon Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bennett, Pete Kransick, Andrew Moore, Mike Whittaker, Boots Whittaker, Chris Gifford, Beverly Gifford, and The Peacemakers Motorcycle Club. Visitation will be 6-9 PM, Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Freedom Baptist Church in Garrard County.
